　　故宫(The Palace Museum )，旧称紫禁城(Forbidden City)，是明、清两朝(the Ming and Qing Dynasties)的皇宫，位于北京市市中心，前通******，后倚景山公园，东近王府井街市，西临中南海。故宫是无与伦比的古代建筑杰作，也是世界现存规模最大、保存最完整的古代皇宫建筑群，1987年被联合国教科文组织(UNESCO)评为世界文化遗产。故宫是中华民族的骄傲所在，也是全人类的珍贵文化遗产。

　　1.位于北京市市中心:可译为located in central City ofBeijing或者located in the center of Beijing,其中locate 常用于被动语态。

　　2.前通…，后倚……，东近…，西临…:这一句的翻译比较难，可以用(it) faces...in the front, with... at its back, ... at its east and ... at its west的结构简化处理。

　　3.无与伦比的古代建筑杰作:可译为unprecedentedmasterpiece of ancient construction,其中“无与伦比的”也可以用unmatched “无可匹敌的，无法比拟的”表示。

　　4.保存最完整的:“保存最完整的”即“保存最好的”，要用well-preserved 的最高级the best-preserved。

　　5.建筑群:可译为architectural complex,也可译为 groups of building。

　　6.世界文化遗产:为固定表达，翻译为world cultural heritage。
